If I were to create a site called fastreadingblog, I'd be at the top of the reading board for this week for sure.  After I finished Fall of Giants (I wish I had waiting till summer 2012 to finish this one so I didn't have to wait for the next one) I finished The Art of Racing in the Rain

I think that would be a good site.  Every night you post how much you read and the time it takes you to read that number of pages.  Then, like we have race entries, you could do a special entry for a book review and how long it took you to read the book.  Then I could brag all up and down about how fast I read.  I could figure out my PR for a book and keep trying to read things faster and faster without sacrificing comprehension. I could spend years trying to break the 30 seconds per page barrier.

I think I'd probably be the best reader on the blog.  I could give people advice on how to read faster and better.  I could critique their technique (I don't agree with the "eye sweep" technique of reading, for instance).  I could give them advice on their training (I train on InTouch magazines).  I'd probably have thousands and thousands of followers.

Anyway, last night I was cursing you, April27, for recommending that book.  I almost didn't finish it because it was so depressing.  When I got to page 200 (that's Nook pages, so I don't know how long the book actually is) I knew I was going to spend the next 50 pages crying, and I didn't want to finish it.  The book was fairly predictable, but I wasn't sure if it was going to have a happy ending or not.  So I stayed up and finished, and was glad I did.  It was a good read if you don't mind misting for most of the book and if you don't mind knowing what's going to happen.  I did end up liking it, though, and would recommend it for the ladies.  But it's a beach read, if you know what I mean.

I know my husband will not read it, so I don't know if I would recommend it for the gentlemen.

Oh, yeah.  I also ran.  I'm finally feeling pumped for the 1/2 on Saturday.

I would not be able to be part of the fastreadingblog, but I would definitely sign my 2 English teacher daughters up for it. When those 2 get together all they talk about are books! I like to read. But find it hard to sit still for very long so it takes me a while to get through a book.

Have fun and Good Luck on Saturday! You will have an amazing day!! :)

I would be the slowest reader on it. Not that I can't read, but I'll be going for awhile and realize that I hadn't been paying attention for the last couple pages (thoughts drifting to other things) and I have no idea what I just read and have to go back.

Good luck on Saturday, you'll do awesome!

Whoa! I just started reading "The Art of Racing in the Rain" a couple of days ago. Eve has just started showing signs of trouble with the headaches and vomiting and such. My wife randomly picked up a copy for .50 cents at a library sale a couple of weeks ago. I started reading it just passively, but it is really good so far. Crap, I hope it's not too sad!

I will say this about reading: I wish I could have been the kind of reader I am today, while I was in high school. Not just in terms of volume, but in comprehension and attention to detail. Maybe it just comes with age. Let me know if you start Fastreadingblog.com, I'll sign up.

Oh and hey, nice job getting out for 3 today.

ha ha ha ha. I enjoyed your satire!

I would give you a run for your money on the fastreadingblog Tracy, I have been an avid reader since I was small. When I am not working 70 hour/week I can read 4-5 books a week easy. Of course, I can do absolutely nothing but read if I am able ... I mean I love to and will do whenever I can get away with it!

I sense some satire. Right now I'm reading a book called Identity: Youth and Crisis by Erik Erikson. It has a picture of a naked man on the cover.

Okay, potential fastreadingbloggers, as long as you promise to tell me often how great I am at reading, I will give you advice on how to read like me.

I guess you and I can be the pros of the site, Bonnie. Just don't try to pretend you're better than me.

And Burt, I'll guide you so that you don't have to go into book stores and pick books for their pictures. I bet you were disappointed to find out what the book was really about. Unless it really is about a naked man.

It's a very revealing picture of Michelangelo's David.

I'll take you on, Bonnie and Tracy. I read World Without End (just over 1000 pages) in 3 days, and none of them were weekend days. I had to go to work every day, and do a couple of other things. Though I don't think I made dinner on any of those days.

I'm not trying to brag. Actually, I'm just obsessed and become useless for anything else when I'm reading a book.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THAT BOOK! I swear my dog wrote it.
