My plan called for no run yesterday, and even though I didn't really need to take off, I did--mostly so I could finish my last paper for the semester (but my freedom is short-lived.  My summer semester starts next weekend).

I ran 3 easy this morning and I was either really slow, ran more than I thought, or left later than I thought.  I'm betting it was that I was really slow.  No garmin today.  Debating whether I should bring mine tomorrow.

Maybe today is just a slow run kind of a day.

I don't know what to tell you about wearing your Garmin for the race. I always wear mine just because I'm such a data junky and I like to see my stats. But you might run better if you don't stress about your pace. Sometimes I wear the Garmin but try not to look at it.

Getting excited?? As for the Garmin, I'm not bringing mine on races anymore if I know there will be good mile markers (like a bigger-size race). I know for sure that I would've adjusted my pace unnecessarily last weekend bc I always (consciously or unconsciously) react to the stupid lap pace and obsess about it. But if you have more self-control than I do you could always just look at it when it beeps each mile, then you'd have those stats afterward. I do wish I had my exact splits from last week. Good luck tomorrow!

Joe, I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who does that. I have no self control and I DO obsess over the lap pace. I don't think mile markers are going to be too noticeable (because I don't remember them last year) and I think I want to have the data for later, so I might just develop some self control. I'm thinking, though, I can't do that, so I might ask my running partner to wear it.

And Carolyn, how do you not look at it all the time? Maybe it's just because I haven't really had it for all that long so it is still sorta a new gadget for me. I don't know.

Sounds like a plan - there's no way I could run it without mile markers OR Garmin. My brain would explode without at least some pace information.

I race with the Garmin but for the most part don't look at it--I like to have the stats for later though!

Tracy - garmin or no garmin, have fun and rock the race tomorrow!

Good luck tomorrow, Tracy. Sounds like you are ready. Have fun!
