I run with God. I use my running time to contemplate, to pray and to listen for His call. I'm married to a non-runner, but a supportive one, and we have four children.

I hate 2 things right now.

I hate snow.  I don't mind the cold, but I really hate snow.  There is not a single route that I can run right now that doesn't have at least 2 half mile stretches that are snow covered and slow.  Boooo!  I'm already slow.  The snow just mocks me.

I also hate running.  The first two miles I was musing on just how much I hate running.  I hate running so much that I am seriously contemplating using the FIRST training plan for the 1/2 that I'm doing.  That's the one where you run 3 key workouts each week and cross train the other 3 days.  The only problem is that right now I can't cross train either because my bike is broken and swimming would be inconvenient.  I'm contemplating just doing 5 days a week till March, then doing that training program after I get my bike fixed.

I hate running so much that yesterday I spurned running and instead sat on my behind and ate candy and chocolate chip banana bread.

I hate running so much that even the crazy little girl who told me that she loved my jacket as she ran past me on the way into her house didn't really shake the blackness of my mood.

But I did enjoy the last mile and a half of my run, when my path was relatively clear and I was able to open up a little.  I'm still none too fast, but at least my last mile was respectable.

So to summarize:  I hate snow and I hate running.

Wow, your mood sounds as dark as mine. I am with you on the snow, however I hate cold too. I do like running. This time of year it is cheaper than therapy. (I love that t-shirt) However, it is a challenge when roads and sidewalks are covered. Hang in there, January will be a distant memory in a month. At least that's what I keep telling myself. :) :) :)

Ya know I noticed when I ran with you that you were a sidewalk runner. Why not take it to the streets? They have to be a little clearer?

Lately I have been going back and forth b/c some areas are safer than others and some people just DO NOT shovel so it is icey and bumpy!

So my marathon plan has me running 4 days and one day of cross training.

I have to say though that taking my running back (running less miles) on my old rookie routes has kinda brought the running bug back.

Unless I stay in my neighborhood and run the same mile over and over, I'm pretty much relegated to the sidewalk since I'm surrounded by busy streets. I go in the street when I can, and that's why I enjoyed the last mile and a half!

I think that I just need to do a race. Usually I do a race in November, December and January, but I haven't run fast since July...

The fun racing atmosphere definitely helps with motivation--as does running with company!

I have that same problem anything more than 3 miles I'm screwed. Which is why I think I get frustrated with longer runs. I found a trail--so when the time comes I may have to drive to it (45 minute drive) and do that every other week to keep the irratableness away!
