I got some awesome new lightweight shoes, and today was the maiden voyage. I'm thinking they will be my sometimes shoes, probably for racing. I was a little nervous because I have over pronation issues, but for today at least they felt pretty darn good.

Ran later in the afternoon. It was hot and sunny, but with a breeze that kept me feeling okay. Ran 2 miles at just under 9 min pace, then sped up a little. Just really wanted to do 3 sorta tempo miles, so I stopped at 5 miles (next 3 were 8:29, 8:18, 8:08) to stretch a little and reset my body for easy running. Then my body decided it didn't want to slow down, so I stopped fighting it and just went with the flow. Last two were 8:31 and 8:19.

All in all it was a good run.

One more week of p90x hybrid, then we'll see what happens. I already plugged all my night duties in my calendar, and mine plus Chuck's equals a busy fall. It might be convenient to be able to fall back on some of the p90x workouts so I have another option besides the treadmill for late nights or nights when I can't leave the house because I'm alone with the kids.

What's up in your world?

Nothin'. My ribs are feeling better, so hopefully Monday....

Break or just bruised?

From Burt on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 20:25:13 from 174.19.199.67

My chiropractor called it a bruise. I think it may be a ligament strain or something. Do ribs have ligaments?

From Tracy on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 20:27:08 from 50.103.228.243

I think so. Caleb did something like that earlier this year. Nothing you can do for that, either, right? Other than rest?

Wrong! You put the magic TENS unit on it! And ice :)

From Tracy on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 20:58:50 from 50.103.228.243

What is a TENS unit?

From Tracy on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 21:01:51 from 50.103.228.243

Okay, just looked it up. You own one of those?

From Burt on Sat, Aug 17, 2013 at 21:10:21 from 174.19.199.67

Uh huh. It's magic.

Sounds like a great plan. The treadmill, ugh, the treadmill. I have a pair of Kinvara's, I like them a lot, but not as much as Nike Free. I overpronate with my right foot and underpronate with my left, I think all that footstrike hullabaloo is a little overrated. Nice finish on your run!

From Tracy on Tue, Aug 20, 2013 at 04:42:10 from 50.103.228.243

I think it's hullabaloo as long as you've learned how to compensate for problems with your gait. I always struggled with migrating problems bc of it (tendonitis, knee, lower back) and didn't realize they were all symptoms of the same problems until I went to a therapist. Now I know what exercises to do in the event I start feeling any of those things. But I still can't wear anything but Saucony. Maybe partly psychological, but only partly.
