5 cross training miles.

The past two days I was subbing in the assistant principal's office.  It was interesting.  I really just basically took notes for him, but it's sometimes comical what happens down there, and other times you just gotta roll your eyes at the goings-on.

But while I was downstairs, there was a big mutiny in my 8th period class over how my student teacher graded a quiz.  She was really upset, but the kids were out of line--and I'm sure I'll hear from some of them today, but I'm backing her.  My students are just seniors who don't want to do anything.  One kid walked out of the class saying, "I hate you!   I hate life!  I hate everything!"

This is an 18 year old, mind you.

I'm looking forward to today (eyes rolling in sarcasm).

Ah teenagers they are SO dramatic. Our 15 year old stormed out of the house nearly in tears saying he wasn't going to live with us anymore a few days ago--all because I had to rather sternly tell him to quit fighting with his little brother.

Hormone surge. :/

What drama, I hated student teaching. I hope the situation diffuses today. Good job on your cross training miles.

April, some kids do run away. If you ever notice a big change in their behavior, like cleaning & organizing all their possessions when normally they're not that neat, they might be planning a drastic step like running away.

Here is an interesting article about the teen brain not being fully hardwired to the prefrontal lobe, which is the part of the brain that reflects upon consequences. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124119468&ft=1&f=1007

My husband is really struggling with high schoolers who talk back and won't cooperate. He works in a particularly tough district. I think he gave out 6 referrals (to the dean's office) in one class yesterday.

Adele--he has always been the dramatic one, but fortunately he has recovered and we are on happy terms now :)
