In my thoughts I am reducing mileage, so since I only did 3, I ran it faster than I would run more miles.  Don't know if that is what I should do or not.  I'm trying now to figure out if I am training for anything now.  I'll figure it out.

And I hate wind.

And it was really hot.

There.  I got out there.  It wasn't a lot, but it was something, right?

Yep, it's certainly something, especially in the wind and the heat. We had wicked wind yesterday afternoon and I thought of you.

I think it's fine to run faster if you're reducing mileage. It's good to run slower if you're increasing mileage, so the converse should be true as well.

Hey don't knock 3 miles! faster and shorter is good. Why not?

You should take up something else to break up running or to get you out of this funk. I'm going to spin once or twice a week and I'm a happier camper. Also I'm one month plus from my last 1/2. I'm serious I think there is some blah time with that. Also I was blah before it. I blame that on winter and hoping not to have IT band problems come back.

I'm using the Wii Fit to get out of the funk I'm in. It's been pretty fun. I think, though, that my crabbiness about running has more to do with my general crabbiness about life right now. Things have been busy and work is annoying. Both my husband and I are uncertain in our jobs right now, too, and that is not helpful either. But at least we have jobs right now, so it could be worse :)

I just find that when I'm crabby about one thing, other things become infected by that. I hope I'm not the only one that happens to!

But I thank you both for the encouragement. I need to keep at it, but I need also to learn to love running for the sake of running again and I don't think I can do that while training for anything big. Maybe it's a 5K summer.

Oh I agree! I think i'm just gonna do a 1/2 in November and anything else I will do is gonna be short and sweet. I think I burnt myself out with 3 last year and maybe too early of one this year. The plus side is they are cheaper!

It is something indeed, nice job! I agree 5Ks are definitely the race to do when it's hot. Even a 10K sounds miserable to me...

That was therepeutic. I hear you about the at least having a job thing.

Hi Tracy! Sorry you are in a funk. I am with April - try doing something new -- how about one of those Zumba classes? I like spinning - except that it gets so darn hot ... it works you out like crazy though and the time flies by!!

This too shall pass dear ...

Oh I forgot to comment on your job. I hpe the next year brings better things. Teaching jobs are hard to come by. Trust me I know (waiting to hear if I can be a classroom teacher next year)

From Tracy on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 08:14:01 from 173.24.38.54

Burt, I hope you're not mocking me for emoting...

Bonnie, it'll pass in two and a half weeks. Then school will be over and I'll be feeling like a million bucks. I'm sure you'll be feeling the same once you're done grading those finals!

April, I signed my contract yesterday to be a classroom teacher, but I was hoping to be moving up in the ranks for next year. Unfortunately, our principal is being coy about whether he's leaving or staying (probably because he doesn't have a job lined up yet) and this is making me crabby for a lot of reasons! Hope that you find out soon that you'll have a classroom position!

I started on August 16 or something crazy like that. But if you want to be even more jealous, my last day of classes with seniors is Friday.

From april27 on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 09:44:57 from 165.138.243.1

Wow! well we did start late August so I guess you should get out earlier. Also we had snow days.
