Not sure really how many miles I did, but it was close enough to 7.

I had XC conditioning today at 7.  I got to the meeting place 1/2 hour early to get in a couple miles before.  It was raining and I was wondering what the turnout was going to be.  Ran 2 miles in the rain.  I felt stiff on the first, but my second felt better and was faster by about 30 secs.

I came back to the meeting place with 10 minutes to spare and started worrying that no one was going to show.  But kids (and my assistant) started showing up within 5 minutes.  We had two groups, a fast one and a slow one.  I let my assistant take the fast group.  The slow group was a little slower than me.

Ran Kaufman route and went a little more than 2x around the lake.  We then went up to the entrance by the stoplight instead of heading straight in and took advantage of the downhill by the softball fields.  It was approximately 5 miles.  By the time we were actually in Parkland, the group had splintered and I was running with Clare.  She said she felt like she wanted to throw up, but still stayed with me.  I think she'll be a decent runner this year.

By the way, I just want to highlight the fact that it was raining this whole run.  It was pretty cool, but the rain wasn't ridiculously hard.  Just constant.

Great job running in the rain. And congratulations to your team for showing up and toughing it out!

Good job on your run. Do you always run with your kids throughout the season on training runs?

wow this sounds like so much fun! Are they training for any races?

Sorry. I've been lazy about putting comments on others' blogs--I haven't had as much computer time lately.

April #1 (ha!), I do try to run with them during training. It doesn't always work out perfectly for me. Sometimes I'll start a workout and then have to stop to attend to someone's question/need for encouragement/discomfort. I have a lot of differing abilities on my team--5 or 6 different training groups.

April #27, we're just doing preseason conditioning. In IL, I can't call it practice and I'm restricted on my contact days (I'm sure it's that way everywhere) and they need to have a good base coming in to practice, which starts officially on August 11 or something like that. I think I've finally reached a tipping point where more of my kids are diligent about training over the summer than not.

Are you doing cross country? I know you are in highschool--but I was thinking when I get to a school I would like to do something like that--as long as it is in my district I could go to the highschool level for sports if I'm an elem teacher right?

Sorry this is sorta running related...:)
