Running, blech.  I'm just not interested in it right now, but I guess the fact that I still did 5 miles is a good thing.  The wind made this run more of a chore.

Treadmill miles.  It was raining most of the day, and I chickened out of running outside when I got out there, and it started to drizzle.  I pictured myself getting stuck in a downpour and said no thanks.  Then when I was running on the treadmill, I was staring longingly outside.  It did not end up raining big time and I regretted my decision.

Calves were cramping something fierce during and after this run.

14 miles.  Probably the longest run prior to the half (3 weeks to go).  My run was pretty good, though it was split up a bit.  I ran 5 warm up miles (9:01, 8:47, 8:47, 8:45, 8:38) and then stopped at the house to go to the bathroom before heading out for some fast running.  My splits for the next 5 miles were 7:51, 7:57, 8:14, 8:17, 8:10.  I think the first two miles were fine, but mentally, I was unsure.  After the first two miles, I gave myself a little pep talk, and then just allowed myself to slow down.  Then it was fine.

Then I did 4 cool down miles with the boys on their bikes.  They didn't bike all 4 miles, but instead played at the park while I added on a mile.  The mile that I added on was faster than the rest of the cool down miles.

All in all it felt nice, but it wasn't really confidence inducing.  I don't really know what I'm shooting for in 3 weeks, but this was exactly how I felt at this time last year.  I will probably decide on race day, like I did last year.

Two miles on the treadmill late late. Blame it on the rain.

The last mile I pushed the pace. I need new shoes. I am starting to have some pain in my right heel. Ans after running consecutive runs in my virratas, my calves cramp up at all hours of the day.

Ran at my mom's. It was a beautiful run, maybe a little windy, but temp was perfect. I ran out to the suspension bridge, where I was supposed to meet Chuck and the boys. I got there in 5.25 miles, with the last 1.5 hovering around 8 min pace. I couldn't find them, and ran another mile before I found them. Then we walked to get some water. I started running a little with Caleb, and my toe was stinging. This is the same toe that was bleeding last week. It is the piggy that didn't get any roast beef. I think I just needed to trim my toe nails, so hopefully that takes care of it. I added on to get to 7.5 and called it a day.  Hoping I can get in 10 or more tomorrow, but it will depend on what time we get on the road.

Oh the best laid plans of mice and men...

Small window to run. Had my watch 5 minutes before I left, then couldn't find it. Spending time finding it would have made my window shrink. So this was around 3 miles.

Got some new shoes. I really needed them. I wish I had more time/desire for running and blogging. I'm stressed right now with work. Lots of work to do and lately it feels like I leave with nothing finished. I think that just might be characteristic of April.

I was ambivalent before this run. Started on the treadmill because I was just going to do 4. Then after 2 miles decided that I felt good. So I went outside for 5 more.

Hoping for at least 3 days where I don't have to think about work!

It was really warm today, and I had to find a bathroom partway through this run to avoid a potential problem. I finally found my watch...after this run. But I had a regular timer and knew the mile markers.  Nice and easy, around 8:45 AP.

Not easy, but not hard either. It was windy, but the end of my run was with it. Just under 8:30 pace.

Low miles this week. First I was sick. Now everyone else is sick. Shouldn't last too long, but race is on Saturday.

This is without a doubt the worst race I've ever had. I had a great first 3 miles, and then I'm not really sure what happened. I just struggled to breathe and stopped twice to see if the medics had something for me. Both times they gave me a neb treatment. I'm trying not to dwell on it. I need another half marathon. This is not indicative of my training, and I want to redeem myself.
