Long time on the gazelle.  Freezing rain outside.  Watched some NCIS.

We're supposed to get thunderstorms Thurs.  Weird.  But then I hear it is to be 50 on Saturday, which I like.

I signed up last week for Chicago's Shamrock Shuffle in March.  My only dilemma is the start.  I'm in a start corral (the slowest one).  All my other people could get into a better start corral, but they are content to be in the open because they don't want to race.  Since none of them care, I have to decide if I should just stay put in my slow corral.  I could submit 5K results to get a better start corral, but it just seems like a lot of effort...I just don't want to go in the open with them because I do want to race and I know I would allow them to seduce me over to the dark side if I started with them.

being in the right start corral makes all the difference. For what it is worth, I would submit my race results and start with people who run about your pace.

It is a cool race, but way crowded ... so starting in the right place is the difference between a good race and a frustrating race.

I'm with Bonnie. It's frustrating trying to dodge and weave around slow people at the start of a race, whereas the right start group can help you hit your target pace. I would submit race results and get in a different corral.

Good luck figuring out your start corral. I hope you get your 50 degree weather on Saturday, that sound like perfect running weather.

I knew if I wrote about my train of thought I would hear what I needed to hear. I think subconsciously I don't want to be in a better corral because I'm looking for an excuse to not try my hardest...

But you've convinced me. I'll do it.

And Michelle, I really hope we get that perfect running weather too!

How cool! I was going to sign up for this race...maybe now I will have too...

My predicament is that the SO wants me to go to a bowling tournament but that means me leaving early on Friday (which I'm not comfy asking about) which means I can't race...but if I don't go to the tourney then I would be able to race...but I'm sure I would be in the back with the slow people. Did I hear correctly? is the goodie bag pretty fantastic?

April, if you don't go you should totally do it! I don't know about the goodies...I've never done this one before. But you can submit race results to get seeded.

Shucks! I missed the 5k cut off by 27 seconds and the 1/2 marathon cut off by 2 minutes...Grrrr...No correl for me! I think my brother decided he is definitely running it!

Do another 5K sometime soon. You have until the first week of March to get under the cut off.
